All images begin as original drawings on bristol board with old-school nib and ink style illustration with watercolor shading. The drawings are then scanned, processed and burned onto a screen. The screenprinting is done with special-made ceramic ink, and the images are applied onto clay slabs via a slip transfer. From there, the clay pieces are coiled and pinched into form, and finally fired with a clear crackle glaze to 2120°F.

All images are my own, made with traditional nib and ink style comic illustration. The drawings are shaded with greyscale watercolor which is then processed and turned into the classic halftone pattern for screenprinting. Using a special-made ceramic ink, the images are printed in runs onto newsprint; these prints are then transferred onto clay slabs via slip (the moisture of the slip loosens the ink from the paper and the drawing is reversed onto the vessel. The pots are constructed entirely with handbuilding techniques and are ultimately coated with a clear glaze and fired to 2120°F.
